World Conservation Congress 2012

IUCN (International Union Conservation Nature) will hold the World Conservation Congress (WCC) 2012 in September 2012 at International Convention Center (ICC), Jeju, South Korea.

The most influential event addressing environmental issues on the globe is held every four years.

IUCN, founded in 1948, is the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization. It has headquarters in Gland, Switzerland and more than 60 branch offices around the world with more than 1,100 members.

The aim of WCC is to call for sharing knowledge and pushing efforts in conservation, environment protection issues such as: conserving the integrity and diversity of nature, ensuring equity in using natural resources, dealing with climate change...

The congress in Jeju will adopt IUCN Programme 2013-2016 including 5 major contents: 1) evaluation and conservation of biodiversity, 2) improving equality in terms of sharing benefits from nature, 3) fighting climate change based on nature, 4) ecosystem management to improve food security and 5) greening the economy.

The congress will take place in 10 days from 6 to 9 September with the attendance of governments, NGOs, enterprises, press agencies and experts in various fields.
