Weekend market opens in HCM City

Update: 30/10/2012
A weekend market selling fresh food and hand-made products kicks off today at the Crescent Mall in District 7, with the aim of acting as a bridge between city residents, particularly those in the Phu My Hung area, and the makers of traditional products.

The market features 60 booths displaying specialties from the southern region, such as Go Cong glutinous rice chapatti, girdle cakes, Tra Vinh mam ruoi (clam-worm sauce), fried fish, Tra Cuon banh Tet (glutinous rice cake filled with green beans and fatty pork) and Hong Hac Tram Chim rice.

In addition, the market is displaying Go Cong pottery, promoting agricultural-tourism in An Giang Province and craft-village tourism in Dong Thap Province and Can Tho City.

As part of another event, the southern traditional cake festival, about 100 kinds of traditional cakes will be offered at the mall.

The two events were organised by the Business Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods, the Business Study and Assistance Centre and Phu My Hung Corporation.
