Largest plastic painting helps protect environment

Update: 25/12/2012
Hundreds of Phan Dinh Phung High School students have helped complete Vietnam’s largest plastic painting at an environmental event in Hanoi on December 23.

The 10mx2.4m painting has three different sections depicting a city’s transformation from overflowing with plastics and waste to being clean, green, and tidy. It shows the active involvement of citizens inspired by the motto I hate plastic.

The event also offered a wide variety of environmentally friendly products for sale, many of which were made from recycled plastics.

Students adorned their caps with different environmental protection messages in the hope of sharing their sentiments with others.

They also sang songs and formed a dance flash mob to express their determination to save mother Earth.

The event—deliberately held before the 2012 Lunar New Year Festival when the demand for plastic bags is expected to surge—aims to raise public awareness about the non-biodegradable material’s negative impacts on health and the environment.
