Da Lat to host cultural heritage promotion programme

Update: 15/01/2013
A programme advertising the national intangible cultural heritage will take place in the Central Highland city of Da Lat from January 22–26.

The event will showcase the most outstanding examples of Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from 2003 to 2011.

This is the first time the heritage, including Central Highland Gong culture, Bac Ninh folk songs, Hue royal court music, and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing), will be introduced to domestic and foreign audiences in an event.

The programme, organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, will involve art troupes from Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thua Thien-Hue, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum.

A conference to review five years of preserving the Gong culture will also be held as part of the programme.
