President praises JICA’s assistance

Update: 27/08/2013
President Truong Tan Sang has applauded JICA-funded projects on the environment, health care, education and culture.

At an August 26 reception for President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka in Hanoi, President Sang hailed JICA delegation’s visit, noting that JICA is an important organization which has increased annual aid for Vietnam.

Sang expressed his wish that the JICA leader and his organization will continue to pay greater attention to projects in Vietnam and further promote cooperation as a contribution to the fine friendship between the two nations.

JICA President Tanaka said his agency is carrying out a host of financial and technical projects in Vietnam with a focus on economics, the environment and cooperation in administrative agencies.

In his capacity as JICA President, Tanaka also pledged his all-out efforts to forge comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Meeting the JICA Chief on the same day,  PM Nguyen Tan Dung expressed his thanks to the Japanese Government for providing the largest amount of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam, wishing that Japan will continue its high ODA provision in the future, focusing on infrastructure development and climate change adaptation.

PM Dung affirmed Vietnam always supervises and uses the ODA effectively for its socio-economic development goals.

The JICA leader said he wants Vietnam to create favourable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in the country by paying more attention to land acquisition, arranging corresponding capital for Japan’s ODA projects as well as speeding up the disbursement of approved projects.

JICA will do as much as it can to contribute to the fine Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation, he noted.
