“Run 4 Tigers” attracts over 750 runners

Update: 12/12/2018
(TITC) – On 9 December 2018, over 750 runners from 31 countries and territories joined a running event held in the Ciputra urban area, Bac Tu Liem district, Ha Noi City.

The Red River Runners club in collaboration with Sporting Republic and the local NGO Education for Nature - Vietnam (ENV) organized the event, aiming to raise funds for activities to protect the wildlife in Viet Nam.

The runners competed in 5km, 10km and 21km runs as well as a 3km family fun run and a 1km run for children. The event also attracted a lot of participants who are representatives from embassies in Ha Noi, ENV’s business partners and celebrities.

The biggest threat to tigers in Viet Nam is hunting and illegal tiger trade. The tiger was traded mostly to get bones to make traditional medicines. In addition, baby tigers or some other tiger body parts are often used to soak alcohol, even as high-value ornaments and jewelry.

Each step of “Running for the Tiger” as well as every commitment made through activities during the event will contribute to minimizing the need for high consumption of tiger and tiger products, supporting efforts to close the illegal cages. Especially, the money raised from the running will be used to support tiger protection activities in Viet Nam.
