Mu Cang Chai, a district of Yen Bai Province, about 300 kilometers from Hanoi, is picturesque when the rice terraces are flooded.

Many Vietnamese and foreign visitors flock to these impressive fields to take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of nature. It is a famous photo location for both seasoned and novice photographers.

Visitors prefer to travel to Mu Cang Chai in early summer. It's the best time to admire the beauty of the landscape.

When the new harvest begins in May, the local ethnic minority villagers have to flood their terraced rice fields with water from the top of the mountain, hence the name: the water pouring season.

Not as magnificent as it is in the season of rice ripening, Mu Cang Chai has its own beauty in the water-pouring season: rustic yet charming and poetic.

These terraced fields, located in the three communes of La Pan Tan, De Xu Phinh and Che Cu Nha in Mu Cang Chai District, are considered the most beautiful in the northern part of Vietnam and were recognized as a National Landscape of Vietnam in 2007.

The romantic beauty of the mountainous district, which is located at the foot of the famous Hoang Lien Son Mountain range, captivates many tourists.
