The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is interested in southern Binh Duong province’s project to improve the quality of water at polluted Ba Bo canal and collect untreated urban waste water in Thuan An town.
A JICA working team is making a fact-finding tour of Ba Bo canal and the site of a sub-project on collecting untreated urban wastewater in Thuan An (the second phase) on August 23.
Ba Bo Canal, running through Thu Duc district in Ho Chi Minh City and districts of Di An, Thuan An in Binh Duong province, is contaminated by large amounts of waste water discharged by surrounding industrial parks and nearly 10,000 households.
Earlier, JICA granted more than VND1.5 trillion in ODA loans to Binh Duong to build a wastewater treatment plant with a daily capacity of 17,650 cu.m in Thu Dau Mot town.
The plant is part of a project to improve water environment in southern Binh Duong and the Sai Gon River by collecting untreated wastewater discharged from more than 50,000 people in Thu Dau Mot town.
