Thanh Hoa to advance the safe and sustainable restart of tourism

(TITC) - On October 7, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province in coordination with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism organized an online meeting to discuss solutions to restoring Thanh Hoa tourism in the new normal.

The meeting was co-chaired by Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi; and Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh. The meeting was attended by leaders of VNAT, representatives from Vietnam Tourism Association, UNESCO Travel Club, leaders of relevant departments of Thanh Hoa, travel and airline businesses.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi informed that with the increasing vaccination rate and without new community infection case of Covid-19 for more than 4 consecutive weeks, Thanh Hoa Province has become a favorable "green area" for safely restoring tourism activities.

Thanh Hoa Province determined to restart tourism activities in phases. The province will begin to serve intra-provincial tourists to "green tourist destinations", followed by domestic tourists coming from "green areas" and then the locality will only be able to fully reopen when it is safe.

For kick-starting tourism, this province in the North Central Coast of Vietnam has focused on prioritizing vaccination for tourism labour force, identifying provincial criteria for safe tourism and tourism recovery plan for the last 3 months of 2021 and 2022, announcing safe destinations, improving the quality of tourism products and services, accelerating digital transformation in tourism, fostering tourism human resources.

In the coming time, the locality aims at tourism recovery in accordance with 6 main guidelines emphasized by Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh, as follows: ensuring safety in gradually tourism reopening; creating new products of eco-tourism products, beach resorts, community-based tourism; focusing on policies for supporting labours and businesses, regrouping and retraining tourism labour force; widely introducing safe "green areas", "green destinations" in Thanh Hoa; enhancing linkage among tourism stakeholders; diversifying inter-provincial and inter-regional tours.

Thanh Hoa Province is planning to pilot welcoming intra-provincial tourists at Sam Son FLC and Pu Luong community-based eco-tourism area in October 2021 and safely expanding to tourists from other localities from November this year.
