Government of Vietnam agreed with MOCST’s pilot plan to welcome international tourists

(TITC) - On November 2, the Government Office released the document informing that the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has agreed with proposal of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) for the pilot plan to welcome international tourists to Vietnam.

According to the document, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Information and Communication, People's Committees of provinces and cities: Da Nang, Kien Giang, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh and related agencies have responsible for implementation, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Pilot plan to welcome international tourists in 3 phases

Phase 1 (from November 2021): Piloting to welcome international tourists by package tours, charter flights and trade flights in selected areas and tourist service establishments in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ninh.

Phase 2 (from January 2022): Expanding areas to welcome international tourists. Tourists could visit to other destinations after finishing 7-day package tours at the first destination. Destinations are in Kien Giang, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh and could be in other provinces willing to reopen international tourism.

Phase 3: Full open international tourism. The starting time of Phase 3 will be identified based on the pandemic situation and on the results of phase 1 and phase 2.

Tourists are foreigners, oversea Vietnamese

Tourists who are foreigners, oversea Vietnamese meet the following conditions:

(1) Having a certificate of full dose of COVID-19 vaccine recognized by a competent authority in Vietnam (not applicable to children under 12 years of age accompanied by parents or guardians). The duration of injection of the 2nd or 1st dose (for the 1 dose vaccine) is valid for 14 days and not more than 12 months from the time of departure; or having a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 or equivalent documents certifying that they have recovered from the disease, issued by a competent authority in the country of treatment and recognized by Vietnam. The time from recovery to departure must not exceed 6 months.

(2) Having negative results for SARS-CoV-2 test by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before departure and certified by the competent authority of the country conducting the test (from the time of sampling).

(3) Have medical or travel insurance that covers treatment for COVID-19 with a minimum liability of $50,000.

(4) Participating in a package tour of travel agency.

Besides that, there are instructions for tourists, related agencies and businesses from registration of tour programs, issuance of visas, pre-flight preparation, entry and exit procedures and the process of participating tour in Vietnam.
