An award ceremony of a fine art photo contest on Vietnam’s sea and islands entitled “The Fatherland by the Shores” was held in Hanoi on December 20.
At the award ceremony
The contest, which was jointly held the Party Central Committee’s Commission of Communication and Education, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, attracted nearly 6,000 entries from authors from 59 cities and province.
121 outstanding works were selected for the final round and exhibition. Among these, the Organising Committee awarded 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 6 Third prizes, and 10 Consolation prizes to the best entries.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission of Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasised the unification of ideology and awareness throughout the Party, people and army regarding the position, role and importance of the sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defence, while continuing to effectively implement the Resolution adopted at the 8th meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee on the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The competition also aimed to promote the beauty of Vietnam’s sea and islands among art lovers domestically and internationally and honour people with outstanding contribution to socio-economic development and safeguarding the country’s maritime sovereignty.
The entries also depicted the beauty of Vietnam’s sea and islands along with the close ties between them and generations of Vietnamese people; the life of soldiers and people in coastal areas and at sea; and how people in these areas preserve and promote their distinctive traditional cultures.
