(TITC) - The Vietnamese government has officially approved 7 localities including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh to participate in the pilot plan welcoming international tourists to Vietnam from the beginning of 2022.
Accordingly, considering the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh assigned the Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Health, Public Security, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Transport, Information and Communications and the People’s Committees of 7 provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh and other relevant agencies to continue to implement the pilot plan to welcome international tourists to Vietnam with safety and efficiency assurance.
Previously, since November 2021, Vietnam has successfully launched a pilot plan to reopen international tourism to 5 localities, namely Phu Quoc (in Kien Giang), Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ninh after nearly 2 years of Covid-19 pandemic time lapse. During phase 1 of the pilot plan, since November 2021 by the end of 2021, Vietnam has attracted over 3,000 international tourist arrivals. It is considered as a fresh step in the recovery efforts of Vietnam tourism.
In 2022, the Vietnam tourism industry will put all the effort into restarting tourism activities in the spirit of ‘safe and flexible adaptation’. The tourism industry is focusing on promoting the ‘Live Fully in Vietnam’ communication campaign to attract the returning of international tourists, aiming to fully open up to international tourism in the near future.
