Tourism activities blooming throughout the three regions on the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022

(TITC) - Favourable weather in the first days of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022, along with the long holiday and the joyful atmosphere when the pandemic is gradually controlled, have given a big motivation for promoting tourism activities throughout three regions, beaming positive signs to the tourism industry in the new year.

The very first visitors to Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Ninh Binh Province

For the North, in Lao Cai Province, a large number of tourists have chosen Sa Pa Town as a spring destination during the Lunar New Year holiday. According to Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the current booking rate in touristic areas and attractions of Lao Cai and especially in Sa Pa has reached about 90% of capacity. In which, the superior segment (from 3-star and over) reached 100% in the 2nd-4th days of the Lunar New Year (i.e. 2nd - 4th Feb 2022); the remaining segments reached over 70%. It is estimated that on the Lunar New Year holiday, Lao Cai Province is expected to welcome 70,000 visitor arrivals, an increase of 25,000 visitors compared to the New Year of the Ox 2021. 

In Ha Giang Province, many visitors have chosen famous tourist attractions such as the Vuong Palace, Dong Van old town (Dong Van District) or the Mong ethnic community cultural tourism village in Pa Vi Ha Hamlet, Pa Vi Commune (Meo Vac District), Ma Pi Leng Stopover and scenic boat ride on Tu San Canyon on Nho Que River, Lung Cu Flagpole.. H’Mong Village Resort sent a news flash, the number of guests booked rooms from the 1st to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year were over 50%, for the rest two days from the 6th to the 7th of the Lunar New Year were full. From the beginning of 2022 till present, Ha Giang Province has welcomed over 365,000 visitor arrivals.

Ninh Binh Province has welcomed out-of-province visitors since the 1st day of the Lunar New Year. As preliminary statistics, during the 1st and 2nd days of the Lunar New Year, nearly 5,000 domestic visitor arrivals have paid a visit to tourist sites and attractions in Ninh Binh Province.

During the 1st and 2nd days of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022 in Quang Ninh Province, tourist spots in the Province have welcomed over 40,000 visitor arrivals. In which, Yen Tu scenic relic area welcomed about 4,000 visitors; Cua Ong Temple (Cam Pha City) welcomed 5,000 visitors… It is expected that Quang Ninh welcomes 200,000 to 250,000 visitors to tourist attractions, mainly gather around cultural and spiritual tourist attractions, and Ha Long Bay…  

In the Central region, tourist centres such as Da Nang City, Khanh Hoa Province, Lam Dong Province attract a large number of visitors to relax and enjoy the spring. In Da Nang, the total number of tourists visiting and travelling in the city on the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022 is estimated to reach 35,939 arrivals, an increase of 16,71% compared to the same period of 2021, mainly domestic tourists. In which, overnight visitors reached 25,500 arrivals, mostly at the coastal resorts of Son Tra District, Ngu Hanh Son District and tourist and attraction sites such as Ngu Hanh Son scenic area, Son Tra peninsula… In 9 days during the Lunar New Year holiday (from 29th January to 6th February), a total of 404 flights are expected to carry passengers to Da Nang.

The very first visitors to Nha Trang City - Khanh Hoa Province on the 2022 Tet holiday

The total number of visitors to Khanh Hoa Province during 5 days of the holiday from 31st Jan to 4th Feb, reached about 65,500 arrivals. The total number of overnight visitors received an increase of 241.7% compared to the same period of 2021. Since the 1st day to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year, Thap Ba and Hon Chong tourist sites have welcomed more than 6,000 and 2,000 arrivals respectively. Many hotels in Khanh Hoa Province experienced ‘fully booked’ for the first time after 2 years affected severely by the pandemic.

The weather is rich with fresh air with cool breeze, peaceful nature, Lam Dong Province always attracts a massive number of tourists. The total number of visitors from 29th Jan to 2nd Feb reached 27,000 arrivals. Da La City in particular, welcomed 25,000 visitors. It is expected that the total number of visitors to Lam Dong Province from 29th Jan to 6th Feb will reach about 80,000 arrivals.

Phu Quoc Island - Kien Giang Province is the ‘hottest’ destination during the 2022 Lunar New Year

In the South, tourist activities are fairly jubilant and bustling. Phu Quoc Island - Kien Giang Province is the ‘hottest’ destination during the 2022 Lunar New Year. According to the representative of Phu Quoc International Airport, during the Lunar New Year, 368 flights will arrive here. Particularly on the 2nd and 3rd day of the Lunar New Year, about 60 flights per day arrive. As estimated by the Kien Giang tourism industry, in 3 days of Tet holiday, about 80,000 visitors to Kien Giang Province for spring trips. In both New Year and Lunar New Year, is a bumper crop season for tourists to Kien Giang Province in general, with the highlight being Phu Quoc Island.   

Tourists to the Western provinces increased sharply. In An Giang Province, from 30th Jan to 3rd Feb, the number of visitors to tourist sites, attractions and entertainment in the province is estimated at 316,000 arrivals, an increase of 58% compared to the Lunar New Year 2021 holiday. In Tra Vinh Province, tourist arrivals during Lunar New Year 2022 holiday  increased by 25% compared to the same period of last year. The total number of visitors to Tra Vinh was 64,750 arrivals. Dong Thap Province welcomed and served about 75,556 visitor arrivals, an increase of 27.7% compared to the same period of 2021. Particularly on the 2nd day of Tet holiday, visitors to Ca Mau Province increased dramatically, up to over 18,000.

It can be acknowledged that the sharp increase of the number of tourists during the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022, indicates the demand for travel, relaxation and spring enjoyment is grand. With the coverage of vaccine rollout, the effective pandemic control and the highly awareness of localities, businesses, destinations being under safety insurance for tourists, promise a strong recovery of tourism in 2022.
