1.6 million EUR for Kien Giang’s biosphere reserve

Update: 16/07/2008
The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) will grant 1.63 million EUR as non-refundable aid to southern Kien Giang province’s 1.2 million ha biosphere reserve.

The project will receive around 163,000 EUR from the province’s budget to be carried out until 2011 with assistance from the German Organisation for Technical Cooperation (GTZ).

It will assess the climate change’s impacts on the reserve to give out measures to better manage, protect and develop its forests.

It will also help raise the locals’ awareness of forest sustainable protection and improve their living conditions.
