In 2022, Vietnam tourism has set the goal to welcome 65 million visitor arrivals, including 5 million international visitor arrivals; the total tourism receipts would reach VND400 trillion.
In order to resume tourism activities safely, effectively and according to the plan under the direction of the Prime Minister, the whole tourism industry needs to focus on: (1) Ensuring safety against pandemic as the top priority; (2) Strengthening cooperation between tourism and aviation; (3) Providing favourable conditions for international tourists visiting Vietnam; (4) Strengthening negotiations to expand beyond 14 countries to recognise Vietnam’s Certificate of COVID-19 vaccination; (5) Improving product quality, upgrading tourism material and technical facilities; (6) Improving destination competitiveness; (7) Promoting and attracting tourists.
About the tourist markets, domestic tourism is still the main market for the industry in 2022. For the international markets, the target markets in 2022 are Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and Australia, giving priority to markets that have a policy of mutual recognition of “vaccine passports” with Vietnam. In addition, India is also a potential market.
Currently, the analytical data from Google Destination Insights showed the number of international search volume for Vietnam tourism is increasing sharply from the beginning of 2022. Remarkably, from January 2022 to present, the number of search volume for travel demand (including air and accommodation) in Vietnam have been remaining in an upward trend, some time peaked by 435% compared to the same period of 2021. This is a blessing sign indicating the demands from the market are soaring.
