(TITC) - On March 18, in Bac Lieu Province, leaders of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta organised conference on cooperation program for tourism development. Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism attended in the conference.
In the period of 2019-2022, Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta have linked to form 3 tourist routes, including: "Alluvial roads" (linking Ho Chi Minh City with Tien Giang - Vinh Long - Can Tho - Hau Giang - Soc Trang - Bac Lieu - Ca Mau); "Non Nuoc charming" (linking Ho Chi Minh City with Tien Giang - Ben Tre - Tra Vinh); "Colors of the border region" (linking Ho Chi Minh City with Tien Giang - Dong Thap - An Giang - Kien Giang).
In addition, accommodation establishments, service businesses, tourist zones and attractions have developed dual stimulus policies (reducing food costs and free admission tickets) with a popular demand stimulus level of 10-20%.
Travel businesses of Ho Chi Minh City have built more than 50 tourism programs (tours) from Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta localities to stimulate demand.
In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City and 13 Mekong Delta localities will continue to cooperate and exchange information in the state management of tourism; tourism product development; tourism promotion; tourism human resource development; calling for investment in tourism development.
At the conference, leaders of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta signed the Regulation on coordination in the implementing Agreement on cooperation in tourism development to 2025.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the association activities bring the diversification of products and exploit the outstanding tourism products among localities. Linking tourism development has contributed to promoting investment in upgrading the transport infrastructure system such as Trung Luong – My Thuan route.
The signing Regulation on coordination in implementing Agreement on cooperation in tourism development is an important basis to restart tourism effectively in the coming time.
Deputy Minister suggested localities to diversify and improve the quality of tourism products, in which focusing on restoring river tourism products, tourism associated with agricultural activities, ecotourism, garden cultural tourism, entertainment along the rivers, sea and island.
Travel agencies improve their role in connecting individual attractions in the region into a comprehensive program to meet the maximum travel demand and bring long-lasting experiences.
At the event, the launching ceremony of "Reopening tourism under new normal" took place.
From March 15, 2022, Vietnam officially reopened tourism and start to recovery. In order to seize opportunities, make breakthroughs and increase competitive advantages in the region as well as in the world, the tourism industry needs the support and synchronous coordination of authorities, businesses as well as the population.
Localities, businesses and tourism workers carefully study the contents of the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and actively respond, contributing to promoting Vietnam's tourism to reopen safely and effectively.
