Tourism environment protection week launched in Binh Dinh

Update: 23/12/2009
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Binh Dinh People’s Committee on December 15 held a ceremony launching the tourism environment protection week in Quy Nhon city. Representatives of the province’s leaders, functional bodies, and many students attended the ceremony.

The tourism environment protection week is annually held across the country, aiming to call for the community to act for a cleaner environment.

The event is also targeted at raising the people’s awareness of environment protection, particularly in the field of tourism, encouraging a sense of responsibility in each person to help activities for tourism environment protection spread in the community for the sustainable development of tourism.

Binh Dinh has rich tourism potential, including natural resources, unique cultural and historical features as well as other advantages, which could attract domestic and foreign tourists, according to VNAT chief manager Chu Ha Lan.

However, the province’s tourism potential hasn’t been fully tapped in the past few years; therefore, the tourism sector couldn’t develop effectively.

Alongside other activities to boost the tourism development, the tourism environment protection week was launched to make the city cleaner, attracting more tourists to come to the central province of Binh Dinh.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, provincial Vice Chairwoman Binh asked each person to join activities to protect the environment, such as keeping streets and public places clean, growing trees, and following regulations on environment protection.

She also suggested that the VNAT, societies, and local authorities should pay more attention to raise the community’s awareness of the environment protection.

The environment protection is one of urgent issues in the society. In the field of tourism, the issue is much more important because the environment plays a core role in sustainably developing the tourism.

Binh Dinh has seen the process of industrialization and urbanization in the past ten years. This has affected the tourism development to some extent.

Relevant bodies and agencies, therefore, must work out prompt measures to protect the environment, contributing to the tourism as well as socio-economic development.
