Jetstar Airways reopens direct flights to Vietnam from April 8

Update: 12/04/2022
Australia’s low-cost airline Jetstar Airways officially restarted regular non-stop flights to the nation on April 8 after over two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moving forward, the carrier is anticipated to operate five direct flights each week, with three flights from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City starting on April 8, along with three further flights from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City which will begin from April 9.

Gareth Evans, chief executive officer of Jetstar, said Vietnam represents one of Australia's favourite destinations, second only to Bali in Indonesia.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the country could be regarded as one of the fastest growing tourist destinations throughout all of Southeast Asia.

Since Vietnam reopened to international tourism on March 15, the number of bookings by international visitors has rapidly increased, which has provided the basis for the airline’s reopening of air routes connecting Australia and the nation in future.

As a means of celebrating the occasion, Jetstar Airways will offer a ticket sales programme for the Melbourne - Ho Chi Minh City route, with prices starting from only US$128 for a round trip. The promotional period is expected to last within 12 hours, from midday on April 7.

Most notably, flights to Ho Chi Minh City will be Jetstar Airways' sixth international destination since it resumed international flights this year.
