Responding to the World Environment Day 2022: Let’s build a sustainable live in harmony with nature

(TITC) - In 2022, “Only One Earth” for the World Environment Day is the campaign slogan, with the call to “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”; rational use of natural resources, biodiversity and dealing with climate change by bringing transformative changes – through policies towards cleaner, greener lifestyles.

In responding to the World Environment Day 2022, localities across the Vietnam have organised many practical, effective activities, ensuring safety and prevention of pandemic.

According to Environment Magazine (VEM), in Ha Noi, the action month on environmental protection takes place from 15th May to 15th June 2022. Within the framework, there are forums, seminars and conference nationally and internationally to spread the words, introduce and search for advanced models of protection of natural resources and the environment, solutions to reduce pollution and deal with climate change; Workshop to consult on regulations on eliminating the use of honeycomb charcoal stoves, not burning straws, and measuring motorcycle emission in the city.

Additionally, within the city area, competitions and events for students, family households and the community to search for initiatives on environmental protection and improvement with the participation of departments, branches, NGOs, socio-political organisations.

According to the plan, many events are expected to take place on 4th June at Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Hoan Kiem District, such as the Launching ceremony in response to World Environment Day and the action month on environmental protection 2022; rewarding initiatives and ideas on environmental protection in 2021. 

In Kon Tum Province, on 13th May 2022, the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment issued a Document on organising activities in response to World Environment Day, the action month on environmental protection 2022 and International Day for Biological Diversity 2022.

Accordingly, the province will focus on propagating solutions to improve environmental quality and protect people's health; economic development associated with environmental protection, climate change adaptation; develop a roadmap in implementing the collection, classification and treatment of domestic waste and plastic waste at source; building and replicating effective models in organising the collection, classification and treatment of domestic waste at source; promote sustainable and environmentally friendly consumption; formulating, organising the implementation of strategies, tasks, schemes and projects on environmental protection.

The Kon Tum Department of Natural Resources and Environment asked departments, units, branches, people’s committees of districts, cities and local businesses in the province to base on the current circumstance to plan and organise responding activities, propagate the slogans and messages of World Environment Day, the action month on environmental protection 2022 and International Day for Biological Diversity 2022.

Districts and cities place banners and slogans in public places to draw community participation; raise people’s awareness of the role of forest and harmful effects of environmental pollution; encourage people to save resources, actively participate in environmental protection, limit the use of single-use plastic.

In Lao Cai Province, the Launching ceremony of “The action month on environmental protection” will be held on 3rd June 2022, in Muong Khuong Town, Muong Khuong District. At the Launching ceremony, the Organisation Board will also launch the “The 2nd Environment Award - 2022”; planting trees; organising the collection, cleaning and sanitation of the environment at the market areas and some main streets in the area of Muong Khuong Town; giving out leaflets and environmentally friendly items; promote by means of mobile devices, speakers on main streets and densely populated areas.

Especially, from 20th May to 30th June 2022, the province will organise many environmental protection activities within the area.
