Addressing the launching ceremony in response to World Environment Day (June 5), Action Month for the Environment and Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week 2022, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh calling on each agency and resident in the city to join hands to act ‘For the Green Earth’ and be active, exemplary and responsible in protecting the environment, all for green, clean, beautiful and sustainable Da Nang.

Chairman Chinh emphasised that Da Nang possesses beautiful long coastlines, gentle Han River, fresh environment and it is also an attractive destination. Every city dweller is happy and excited to witness the strong rise of the city with appropriate guidelines and decisions in the development process and the improvement of life quality.
However, Da Nang still faces a few of challenges in harmoniously solving socio-economic development with environmental protection and nature conservation in the context of climate change, the COVID pandemic and unpredictable natural disasters.
The municipal government chief encouraged the general public to promptly solving environmental problems that still arise in each locality and residential area; strictly manage the environment in industrial parks and in each enterprise; promote synchronous implementation of waste sorting and collection at source.
Besides, heed should be paid to applying advanced solutions and technologies for recycling and waste treatment and limiting the use of plastic waste and single-use plastics, using environmentally-friendly transportation means, and saying no to the trade or consumption of wild animals and plants.
At the same time, more highly practical activities are highly recommended to actively respond to the ongoing project of planting 1 billion trees in the city, promoting the movement ‘Green - Clean - Beautiful Sunday’ and promote educational activities on environmental protection, nature love, biodiversity conservation of the city.
At the launching ceremony, certificates of merit from the Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment were awarded to 10 units and individuals in Da Nang in recognition for outstanding achievements in response to environmental protection emulation movements in 2021.
An emulation flag was presented by the Da Nang People's Committee Chairman to the Environmental Protection Sub-department under the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment for leading the emulation movement in 2021.
Also, certificates of merit from the Da Nang People's Committee Chairman went to 18 units and 6 individuals who won the Da Nang Environmental Award 2020.
On this occasion, the Environmental Protection Sub-department presented a water purification system worth VND 50 million to the Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School in Xuan Ha Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang. ‘
In a similar vein, the Coca-Cola Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd. donated VND100 million worth of trash cans serving waste sorting at source to units in Thanh Khe District.
After the launching ceremony, relevant local forces carried out environmental cleanups.
From June 1 to August 30, there will be more than 48 activities and events for the environment.
Notably, the Waste and Environment Technology and Solution Towards Sustainable Urban Development Vietnam Conference and Exhibition (WETV Confex) and a scientific conference ‘Cooperation to promote sustainable development of marine economy in Da Nang’ will be held in the city.
Also, oil spill response exercises and scientific conferences on cooperation to promote sustainable development of marine economy in Da Nang, along with many environmental cleanup drives will be carried out.
