Phu Tho: Promoting culinary value, attracting tourists

Food tour has quickly been accepted and become more and more popular among young people. This trend appears most in big cities - where there is a diversity of cultural interference and street food.

In Phu Tho, the development and enhancement of the culinary value of the Fatherland is one of the important contents that the province is implementing, in order to serve and attract tourists to the locality. The Fatherland cuisine has long been famous for its unique dishes, imbued with cultural identity, containing the rustic and idyllic features of the majestic land. Phu Tho has a rich and diverse culinary treasure with a lot of King-served typical products unlike other localities such as: Lang fish, Anh Vu fish, multi-spur rooster, Doan Hung pomelo, Gia Thanh persimmon, Hac Tri persimmon, etc.

The two most ancient types of cakes, namely banh chung and banh day associated with the legend of Lang Lieu, are often seen in festivals. Some rustic dishes with bold rural countryside soul such as Thanh Son sour meat, ear cake, cassava cake, palm, pickled cassava leaves… Especially, the Muong people in Phu Tho have food-served-on-leaf parties, hilly pig, bamboo rice, five-color sticky rice...

“Phu Tho has a diverse cuisine, showing many unique points in the culture and lifestyle of the people. Popularizing food tours to stand out and attract tourists is an important factor when implementing food tours in the province,” shared Ms. Hoang Ngoc Anh, Van Phu ward, Viet Tri city. Phu Tho has a wide spread area, and specialty cuisine scattered in different localities far apart in terms of geographical locations. Causing specialty cuisine to approach closer to street food will contribute to increasing tourists" opportunities to experience food.

Despite difficulties, this is also an opportunity for Phu Tho"s tourism to reach out. As visitors have to travel back and forth to enjoy local specialties, their stay duration will be extended here. This helps promote development of other accommodation services in the province.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Director of the Tourism Promotion Information Center of Phu Tho province: Phu Tho is currently focusing on developing products, special food and features of the province to attract tourists. Strengthening advertising and promoting activities to introduce products to enhance the cuisine value of the Fatherland. Making special food become a factor attracting tourists to Phu Tho besides experiencing resources and destinations in the province.
