Prioritising the development of green tourism

(TITC) - This is a task outlined in the National Green Growth Action Plan for the 2021-2030 period approved by the Prime Minister on 22nd July 2022.

Accordingly, the Plan includes 18 topics, 57 groups of tasks and activities and 134 specific tasks and activities.

Regarding the field of tourism, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism 2 executive tasks: “Improving institutions and policies to manage tourism development in the direction of green and sustainable growth” and “Prioritising the development of tourism types in the direction of green growth (ecotourism, community tourism, agricultural and rural tourism, sea and island tourism associated with blue sea economic development, adventure sports tourism ensuring green standards and criteria...), developing green tourism products”.

In which, the task group “Improving institutions and policies to manage tourism development in the direction of green and sustainable growth” with 2 main tasks: "Effectively develop and implement the tourism system planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 associated with green and blue sea economy" and "Completing institutions and policies prior to develop ecotourism, agricultural and rural tourism, community tourism. Develop a set of evaluation criteria and implement a rating system on green growth for tourist destinations and tourism businesses in Vietnam”. These are 02 tasks of group A, with high priority.

Regarding the "Prioritising the development of tourism types in the direction of green growth, developing green tourism products" also has 2 tasks: "Developing infrastructure, technical facilities to serve various types of tourism towards green growth, focusing on connectivity of infrastructure" and "Encouraging tourism investors to focus on investing in a system of collection, classification and recycling to reuse wastewater and waste for different purposes".
