Update: 22/09/2022
The United States Embassy in Hanoi has launched a photography contest titled “Celebrate Our Heritage” 2022 which aims to encourage young people to take action as part of efforts to protect their national cultural heritage.

The contest is being sponsored by the US Department of State, the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, and the US Embassy Hanoi.

The rules of the contest state that entrants must be between 15 and 35 years old on the date of entry into the contest.

Photo submissions must be sent in a jpeg format, be five megabytes or smaller, and the photo size must be no smaller than 2048 pixels. They should not have any visible watermarks, signatures, or personally identifiable information.

The deadline for submissions will be on September 30.

Winners of the contest will be announced on the Embassy’s website and Facebook page, with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place on October 18.

According to details provided by the organising board, the contest’s grand prize winner will be awarded a GoPro Hero 9 camera and a certificate from the US Embassy.

Furthermore, the first runner-up will receive a Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 and US Embassy certificate, while the second runner-up will be presented a Sony digital frame and US Embassy certificate.

Those who win the People’s Choice will be awarded a Fujiflim Instax Square SQ06 and US Embassy certificate.

In addition, the winning photographs may be displayed on the Embassy’s website, social media platforms, or in the Embassy itself.

Since 2001, the US has sponsored 16 Ambassadors Fund Cultural Preservation (AFCP) projects totaling over US$1.2 million in order to preserve cultural heritage across Vietnam.

Projects range from intangible heritage, such as the music of the Tay minority people and ethnic cham ceremonial songs, to aspects of tangible heritage such as statues and religious objects, temples, paintings, and citadels.

US Government support for cultural preservation has helped the nation to preserve invaluable cultural assets and has served to strengthen relations between the two countries.
