International Film Festival 2022 opens in Hanoi

The sixth Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) opened at the Friendship Palace in the capital on November 8 evening.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung welcomed international delegates to the festival and noted HANIFF 2022 creates the chance for film artists to expand exchanges, cooperation, and experience sharing to contribute to the development of cinematography in participating countries and elsewhere throughout the world.

This is an event that honours the talents of cinematographic art, and at the same time promotes Vietnam as a nation imbued with cultural identity and as a safe, friendly, and hospitable nation which is integrating deeply into the region and the world, he said,

With a variety of genres, theme richness, and unique expression methods, Hung expected the films to be screened at HANIFF 2022 would bring to the audience unique and interesting experiences about the history, culture, nature, country and people of each state and territory.

Delegates were treated to a number of special art performances with traditional cultural influences.

The organizing board has selected 123 films from 56 countries and territories, including India, Poland, Iran, France, Brazil, Spain, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Vietnam, to vie for prizes. Among them, 40 films have been selected for free screenings throughout the festival from November 8 to 12.

Seminars, exhibitions and exchanges will be held during the festival. The awards ceremony will take place on November 12 evening.
