Quang Nam: Tam My Tay tourism development with doucs

Update: 11/11/2022
The proliferation of the grey-shanked doucs provides Tam My Tay commune of Nui Thanh district (Quang Nam province) with an opportunity to develop community-based tourism.

Grey-shanked doucs in Tam My Tay forest

Grey-shanked doucs are an indigenous animal species having lived in Tam My Tay forest for a long time.

According to the data from Green Viet Centre collected in September 2022, there was a population of 69 grey-shanked doucs distributed into 9 herds living in a 30-hectare natural forest there.

As can be seen from the observation, it is rather easy to access the habitat of grey-shanked doucs and see them in Tam My Tay.

Besides, in the neighbourhood of forest where the grey-shanked doucs are living are some beautiful landscapes, such as Giang Thom pool and the orchard in Tu My hamlet.

Therefore, this area has great potential for tourism development, especially educational and experiential tourism attached to ecological preservation.

Place where the grey-shanked doucs are living

Reportedly, Tam My Tay is one of the destinations in the Quang Nam provincial programme of rural tourism development.

According to Stefan Zeigler-a WWF expert, the development of community-based tourism in Tam My Tay should be balanced to keep the doucs from stress and the floristic composition there from degradation.
