During an Asian visit from March 8-14, the German Minister of Economic Co-operation and Development Dirk Niebel has invited representatives of the Vietnamese Government and international organizations to attend a seminar on climate change.
The seminar aims to discuss measures and strategies for coping with the impact of climate change and gas exhaustion in Vietnam. Rising sea levels and an increasing number of floods, and tropical storms, as well as salty soil and its impact on food production, economic development and the living conditions of local people are also set for discussion in the seminar.
In addition, Minister Niebel discussed programmes, projects and measures that the Vietnamese Government has implemented with support from the German Government and international donors. He said he was especially concerned about the management of coastal areas and indigo forests.
