Whale shark caught in Ca Mau province

A large, strange-looking fish was caught off the southernmost province of Ca Mau on November 5, 2008.
The fish, 3.5 m in length, 1.6 m in width and weighing 350 kg, was netted by local fisherman Nguyen Van Cuong.
It was later identified by the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute as a whale shark (Phincodon typus). The whale shark is a rare specimen that is found only in deep sea areas.
