(TITC) - On 22th December, the Closing ceremony of the Visit Vietnam Year - Quang Nam 2022 and the Opening ceremony of the Start-up Vietnam Year - Quang Nam 2023 took place at Vinwonders Nam Hoi An, Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province.

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province said, the Visit Vietnam Year 2022 with the theme “Quang Nam - Green Tourism Destination” is a great opportunity for Quang Nam and other provinces, cities across the country to operate several responding activities to promote and introduce tangible and intangible cultural values, unique tourism resources and products of the localities to friends, domestic and international tourists, especially raising awareness about Green, environmentally friendly tourism development.
Quang Nam Province in particular, the tourism industry has received strong prosperity and is gradually gaining back its growth momentum post the Covid-19. Accordingly, Quang Nam welcomed nearly 4.8 million visitor arrivals, an increase of 13 times compared to 2021, especially, domestic tourists have increased strongly and exceeded the set target; The international tourist market has shown good signs of recovery. Tourist revenue in 2022 achieved VND 3,800 billion, up 8 times over the 2021; total tourist receipts is estimated at nearly VND 8,900 billion, nearly two thirds compared to 2019. The number of enterprises operating in tourism has increased again, creating jobs for workers; tourism business activities "defrost" following the recovery momentum. The success of the Visit Vietnam Year along with the achievement and exceeding all socio-economic development targets by 2022, has created a premise for Quang Nam Province to develop robustly and comprehensively in the coming time, including the tourism industry.

Giving his remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Doan Van Viet, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, Vietnam tourism market in 2022 has gradually recovered, tourist receipts achieved VND 495,000 billion, an increase of 2.75 times compared to 2021. The number of domestic visitors is estimated to reach 101 million visitor arrivals, exceeding the target set of 60 million visitor arrivals for the whole year. International visitors to Vietnam are estimated at 3.5 million arrivals.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also praised and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Quang Nam Province to host the event in extremely difficult conditions post the COVD-19 pandemic. The hard work has contributed to stimulating tourism demand, promoting communication, and introducing destinations of Quang Nam in particular and Vietnam in general via activities in the Visit Vietnam Year 2022.

At the ceremony, the handing over flags took place. Binh Thuan Province is the local host for the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 under the theme “Binh Thuan - Green Tourism Comes Together”. Thereby, the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 in Binh Thuan will include 208 activities, of which 13 are organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; 31 activities hosted by Binh Thuan Province with inter-provincial, national and international scale taking place throughout 2023; along with that are 164 events, cultural, sports and tourism activities in response to the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 organised by 41 provinces and cities.

In the same evening, Quang Nam Province organised the Opening of the Start-up Vietnam Year - Quang Nam 2023, under the theme “Spreading the entrepreneurial spirit”. This is a typical scientific - economic - social event, of national and international scale, with the aim of creating a start-up culture.
