The image snapped by Cao Ky Nhan captures a person rowing a small boat in the middle of the enchanting green nipa palm forest in Tinh Khe district, situated roughly 16 km from the centre of Quang Ngai.

“The palm leaves glistening in the early-morning sunlight are used by local fisherfolk and farmers for roofing as well as decoration,” National Geographic Traveler describes on its website.

During the Vietnam War the nipa palm forest was used to serve as a revolutionary base to hide Vietnamese soldiers.

Nhan, 40, was born in the south-central province of Phu Yen, although he is now living and working in Ho Chi Minh City. He has been famous for several years after winning a series of prizes at international photo contests.

In October, he won gold at the Epson International Pano Awards for his shot of golden yellow rice fields flanking a river in Cao Bang province.
