Located on the bank of Lam River in Nam Dan Town, the complex includes a temple worshipping King Mai Hac De, his tomb, and his mother’s tomb.

King Mai Hac De, whose real name was Mai Thuc Loan, was born in Ha Tinh Province and was the leader of the 722 uprising against the rule of the Tang Dynasty in the present-day Thanh Hoa Province and Nghe An Province.

The complex is among five heritages that were awarded national status under the Prime Minister-approved Decision No. 1649/QD-TTg.

The other four heritages were the Roc Tung – Go Da archaeological site in An Ke Town, Gia Lai Province; the Sa Huynh Culture archaeological site in Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai Province; the Huong Canh Communal House in Binh Xuyen District, Vinh Phuc Province; and the Ap Bac Victory’s Historical Site in Cai Lay Town, Tien Giang Province.
