According to Ben Groundwater, the author of the article, there are various ways in which visitors can choose to explore the Mekong Delta, such as by a luxurious river cruise with companies such as Scenic or Emerald. Alternatively, people can take a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City, dipping in and out with a base in the southern city, or even travel independently on a proper adventure through rural Vietnam on a hired scooter.

“Regardless of your choice, this is one of the world's great regions for exploration, brimming with culture that's unique even from the rest of Vietnam,” says the author.

He noted that the Mekong Delta, which boasts several riverside towns such as Can Tho, Vinh Long, Cai Be, and Ben Tre, has an amazing cuisine, bountiful markets, plus a rustic, raw feel that's perfect for the adventurous traveler to enjoy.

“And with Vietnam gaining rapidly in popularity, there's never been a better time than 2023 to see an area that remains relatively untouched,” Groundwater concluded.

Other destinations named in the list are Egypt, Sri Lanka, Spain, Ecuador, Namibia, Slovenia, Laos, Scotland, Bhutan, Japan, and Taormina of Italy. This is in addition to Tangier of Morocco, Nashville of the United States, Budapest of Hungary, Montevideo of Uruguay, Manchester of the UK, and Melbourne of Australia.
