Vietnam - China to launch the Golden tourist route "Two countries - Six destinations"

(TITC) - On 28th March 2023, in Ha Noi, Ha Noi City Department of Tourism coordinated with the Departments of Tourism of Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong (Vietnam) and the authority of Honghe Hani, Yunnan Province (China) to organise the Conference to promote the launch of the Golden tourist route "Two countries - Six destinations" including Kunming - Honghe Hani (China) - Lao Cai - Ha Noi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh (Vietnam).

Attending the conference, on the Vietnam side, there were Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT); Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairwoman of Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of Ha Noi City Department of Tourism; Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Tourism; Mr. Trinh Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism; Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam; Hanoi Tourism Association, UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, units and businesses in the field of tourism…

On the Chinese side, there were Mr. Peng Shituan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Zhao Ruijun, Secretary of Party Committee of Honghe Hani; leaders of some state offices of Honghe Hani; tour operators of Kunming and Honghe Hani.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairwoman of Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee stated, Lao Cai (Vietnam) situates at the gateway position on the Kunming (China) - Lao Cai - Ha Noi - Hai Phong (Vietnam) economic corridor. The province has over 182 km of border with Yunnan Province - China. In terms of the tourism sector, China is one of the most important tourist source markets of Lao Cai in particular and Vietnam in general. Many activities of signing cooperation agreements to develop tourism, exchanging regular and effective visitor sources between Yunnan and Lao Cai took place recently.

The Lao Cai’s tourism industry has reviewed human resources, technical infrastructures, upgrading tourism products and services, restructuring in order to increase the attractiveness of destinations (especially destinations in the golden tourist route), and welcoming Chinese visitors with quality travel services that meet their demands.

Highly appreciated the Golden tourist route “Two countries - Six destinations”, Ms. Giang Thi Dung stressed, the tourist route is one of the tourism products bearing the bold imprint of friendship and cooperation between Lao Cai Province, provinces in the economic corridor of Vietnam and Yunnan Province, China, meeting the demand of visitors to travel, learn, discover and experience of each side. This project acts as a strong proof to a responsible and sustainable cooperation relationship, opening up new prospects for cooperation in the tourism industry of the two sides.

Sharing about product development connecting 6 localities of Vietnam and China, especially highlighting new destinations of Vietnam and Ha Noi localities, Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of Ha Noi City Department of Tourism addressed, as an active member of the conference on Economic Corridor Co-operation among five cities and provinces: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ha Noi, Lao Cai (Vietnam) with Yunnan Province (China) and in 2023, Ha Noi will host the 10th Vietnam-China Conference of Economic Corridor Co-operation.

Chinese visitors love Vietnam's destinations such as: Lao Cai, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, ... and other culturally rich tourist attractions. Vietnam is also an ideal destination for MICE tourism, culinary tourism, golf tourism, etc., being preferred by Chinese visitors.

Ha Noi will focus on investing in building unique tourism products, upgrading destinations, technical infrastructure, service infrastructure, tourism environment… as a foundation for sustainable tourism development, promoting to attract Chinese and international visitors along the following tourist routes: Kunming - Honghe Hani (China) - Lao Cai - Ha Noi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh (Vietnam), aims to restore and develop tourism  of Ha Noi Capital.

Mr. Zhao Ruijun, Secretary of Party Committee of Honghe Hani said, the launch of the route is part of the tourism and culture cooperation between China and Vietnam, and that it will provide a good stepping stone for the two countries to strengthen cross-border tourism cooperation on a larger scale.

For many years, China has always been one of the leading markets of Vietnam tourism, accounting for a high proportion (about 30% on average) of the total number of international visitor arrivals to Vietnam. In 2019, Chinese visitors ranked first in the source markets  of Vietnam tourism, reaching 5.8 million out of a total of 18 million international arrivals to Vietnam.
