Post office is a place that allows people to stay connected around the world. Post offices around the world can be different by their design. Post office in Mexico City, for instance, a central post office looks more like the home of royalty than a mailing centre; in Germany, a post office actually is a palace - or at least is housed in a building where one used to be.

The Saigon Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is not just doing its function as a post office but a popular tourist attraction. It became one of the most famous and iconic attractions in Ho Chi Minh City, a part of the Notre Dame Cathedral, Independence Palace and Ben Thanh Market.

This post office is also the oldest building in District 1 and the city. The Central Post Office was built around 1886 – 1891 based on design of  Auguste Henri Vildieu and assistant Alfred  Foulhoux, famous French architects. It is gradually a historical witness for every ups and downs of the country since the past. This post office is considered a perfect blend of neo-classical European architecture and Asian decorations. The artistic facade of this building encompasses many European elements, including palmette ornaments, Roman arches and windows, as well as beautifully made reliefs.
