Responding to World Environment Day, World Ocean Day and International Biodiversity Day 2023, what activities does Phu Yen conduct, sir?
The province has guidelines and requires departments, branches, localities, production and business establishments and the people to organize response activities to form a chain of activities; organize the hanging of banners, panels and posters in public areas, streets, offices and other suitable places.
Specifically, on World Environment Day, Action Month for the Environment, the province will have community activities such as responding meetting, launching the campaign to clean the environment, planting trees, collecting and treating waste; promoting propaganda not to use non-biodegradable plastic bags and single-use plastic products. The province also requires relevant agencies and units to implement the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection in 2020; the project to promote propaganda on plastic waste prevention and control in the period of 2021-2025; the project of strengthening the management of plastic waste in Vietnam; Action Program 08 of the Provincial Party Committee on strengthening environmental protection, building Phu Yen province into a green, clean, beautiful and environmentally friendly destination. Districts, towns and cities need to have at least one specific model of effective anti-plastic pollution; going out to clean up, treat garbage at black spots and pollute plastic waste in rivers, lakes, and coasts...
World Oceans Day, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, agencies and units focus on propagating the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, State policies and laws, and international law on sea and islands; the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of Vietnam at sea; position, role and importance of seas, islands and oceans in sustainable development. Strengthening control over the collection, transportation and treatment of waste and plastic waste along the coasts and on islands; launching community movements, cleaning up the marine environment, collecting and treating waste, and not discharging plastic waste into the environment. The coastal districts, towns and cities must carry out activities to clean up the coasts according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, meeting the requirements that after the launch period, there is no longer the situation of garbage drifting on the coasts. On June 4, the province held a ceremony to launch an environmental sanitation campaign, carrying out a series of activities to clean the sea in Vung Ro area, Dong Hoa town.
What will the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and related units do to make environmental protection a regular and continuous job in the coming time, sir?
Environmental pollution caused by waste has become a global problem and a great challenge for the community and society. An important solution in waste management is garbage circulation and core content is garbage classification and behavior change. To do this well, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has synchronously implemented solutions, strengthened the role of associations and unions in propaganda about environmental protection, deployed a model of classification, and reduced waste through solution of turning waste into useful products. The model of composting biological detergents and organic fertilizers by aerobic tanks has been implemented in 7/9 districts, towns and cities, notably the biological dishwashing liquid product of the Waste Recycling Women Club in Binh Ngoc commune, Tuy Hoa city was granted a 3-star OCOP product certificate.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has also advised the Provincial People's Committee to attract support resources from the World Wide Fund For Nature in Vietnam (WWF-Vietnam), the Green Development Support Center (GreenHub) to support local communities to improve the capacity of environmental protection, especially plastic waste and domestic waste; in which strives to make Tuy Hoa city one of the 10 cities with a high rate of plastic waste reduction in the country. Currently, WWF-Vietnam is supporting Phu Yen with the plastic waste management project in Vietnam until the end of 2025. It has organized 12 practical activities such as training, implementing a plastic-free school model, model of garbage classification in markets and residential areas in Tuy Hoa city (An Phu commune and ward 7)…
In the coming time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and related units will continue to coordinate to carry out the above activities to raise awareness of environmental protection and reduce plastic waste in the province. Thereby contributing to create a green - clean - beautiful, sustainable and harmonious living environment with nature.
