The province Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism staged the opening ceremony of the Xoan singing training and practice class for the Phu Tho Xoan singing clubs and folk songs on June 26 at the Center of Culture - Cinema.
Xoan An Thai Ward artists taught pupils how to sing and beat the drums in accordance with a traditional Xoan song.
Nearly 80 students from the Phu Tho Xoan singing clubs and folk songs participated in the teaching and practicing of Xoan singing. Students were taught Xoan songs by People"s Artists and Elite Artists from the original Xoan wards during the class performance from June 26 to 30.
Singing and tapping to the rhythm of the drums are practiced by practitioners.
The Xoan singing teaching and practice class seeks to increase awareness of the need of maintaining and promoting the Xoan singing tradition, which has been designated by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Simultaneously, basic skills in performing arts of Xoan singing are provided for students to apply in grassroots cultural activities to achieve good results, thereby improving the quality of club activities and promoting the initiative and creativity of the artistic nucleus in the mass art movement. As a result, Xoan singing is spreading and developing in the community, actively contributing to the conservation and development of the history of Xoan singing in Phu Tho.
