The Fragrant Squash Festival took place on Sunday in Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, where visitors could enjoy the festivity right at the garden of Yen Duong commune.

The local specialty was also promoted via livestream and social networks such as facebook, youtube, and tiktok.
Hoang Duong Huan, a resident of Dia Linh commune, Ba Be district, said, "This program is very good for growers of squash. Residents of Yen Duong and Dia Linh communes in Ba Be district wish to continue to grow more areas and our projects to be sold well.”
The fragrant squash, a typical agricultural product of Ba Be upland district, is grown in two communes Yen Duong and Dia Linh, with a total area of about 200 hectares. This is a native squash variety with a mild aroma that no other squash has.
Over the years, it has helped hundreds of households in Ba Be escape poverty and get rich with an income of up to 8,500 USD a year.
Luu Quoc Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Be district, said, “We create more forms of sales and promotion to stimulate consumption of fragrant zucchini, not only for people in the province and in the country but also for international friends to access this product."
"Through the event, we also hope to motivate people to continue farming, expand acreage, improve product quality, and develop the local agro-forestry economy,” he said.
