HCMC to organise River Festival for the first time

(TITC) - The first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2023 promises to be a series of unique cultural-entertainment-art activities taking place on the Saigon River.

On 12th July, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism organised a Press Conference informing about the first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2023.

Thereby, the Festival is endorsed by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, organised by the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture and Sports and related units.

The Festival will take place in 3 days, from 4-6 August at Sai Gon Port - Cruise Port, Bach Dang Wharf Park, Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal area, Binh Dong Wharf, Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Area and other tourist areas and destinations in the city of Thu Duc and districts of Ho Chi Minh City.

The first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2023 is a series of unique cultural-entertainment-art activities taking place on the Saigon River, combined with experience activities, shopping promotions, ticket prices reduction for art shows and a variety of other response activities.

The highlight of the event is the 1st Ho Chi Minh City River Festival art programme in 2023, with the theme "Saigon - River tells a story" taking place at Saigon Port - Cruise Port.

The reality show recreates the formation of nature and people through the development periods of Gia Dinh-Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City and the river is a heroic "witness".

Along with that, the “hustle, bustle” space in District 1 (Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal, Dien Bien Phu bridge to Thi Nghe bridge) and District 8 (The area along the embankment of Binh Dong wharf route, ward 13, district 8) will be displayed with agricultural products, specialties, and fruits of different regions for people and tourists to visit and experience; supporting farmers to promote and sell their products.

Besides, there are many activities to take place such as: Boat race at Bach Dang wharf, paragliding show, flyboard, art lighting show at sky paragliding area, traditional boat racing performance, water canoe show…

The river festival also includes parades on the river, art performances of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and the organisation of folk games and the announcement of water tourism products and tourism stimulus tours in Ho Chi Minh City, along with other responsive activities: Shopping promotions, ticket prices reduction for art shows…
