In April and May, the spilling water season for preparing to grow rice, under the summer rain, the terraced fields are like giant mirrors in the majestic nature, reflecting the clouds and sky, reflecting the bright rays of the morning sun, creating a scene that moves people's hearts.
Coming around September and October, is the time when Hoang Su Phi puts on the brilliant colours of the golden ripe rice fields that dye the hills, bringing along the smell of the familiar scent of ripe rice. The rich and poetic beauty of the ripe rice season, along with the romance in the autumn weather, have created an attractive Hoang Su Phi.
In particular, visitors to Hoang Su Phi in the ripe rice season will have the opportunity to participate, explore and learn about the cultural identity of the ethnic groups here through the Gau Tao Festival and Culture and Tourism Week “Through the heritage of Hoang Su Phi terraced fields”. For those who love the cold of the Northern mountain, November and December are the ideal times to start the journey to hunt clouds in the "foggy land" Hoang Su Phi. In winter, dense fog covers the hillsides, terraced fields seem to be hidden under the clouds, evoking a feeling of peace in the mountains.

Hoang Su Phi terraced fields spread in 24 communes, of which terraced fields in 11 communes are ranked as national scenic site, including: Ban Phung, Ban Luoc, San Sa Ho, Ho Thau, Nam Ty, Thong Nguyen, Ta Su Choong, Ban Nhuong, Po Lo, Thang Tin and Nam Khoa. In particular, Ban Phung is considered to have the most beautiful terraced fields. In 2012, Hoang Su Phi rice terraced fields were officially recognized as National Relic Site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
