A seminar took place on August 9 in Hue in the central province of Thua Thien Hue to study the value of Hue’s cultural heritages and surrounding areas in order to preserve the value of the Complex of Hue Monuments.
Upon addressing the workshop, Japanese and Vietnamese experts used the event as a platform to share their experience in studying the values of the cultural heritages, the historical environment, and the heritage landscape situated along the Huong River.
Professor, Dr. Shigeru Satoh, former Director of the Institute of Urban and Regional Studies at Waseda University in Japan, stressed the need to consider the buffer zone as an important area in which to preserve heritage values.
Furthermore, he also underscored the importance of close co-ordination among relevant units to propose legal provisions in a bid to manage the various aspects of cultural heritages in an appropriate manner.
Experts therefore proposed supporting local tourism development around the Hue relic area to encourage local residents to join hands as a means of protecting cultural heritage, as well as creating livelihoods for them.
They also devised orientations which seek to expand the community-based eco-research tourism programme around the relic area in order to contribute to preserving the value of the Complex of Hue Monuments moving forward.
