On August 10 the Hoa Vang District authorities coordinated with the Executive Board of the Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to organise a workshop to share experience among universities on community-based tourism models in Hoa Bac Commune.
Previously, in late 2022, representatives of UNDP and Hoa Vang District People's Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding with leaders of the University of Education - the University of Da Nang and the city-based University of Architecture to boost cooperation and share benefits from the models of community-based tourism in Hoa Bac Commune.
Since then, many students of the two universities have visited Hoa Bac Commune to learn about the tourism model.
From 2022 until now, there have been five eco-tourism sites and 16 community-based tourist sites in Hoa Bac Commune, welcoming and accommodating more than 3,000 visitors, most of whom are students from universities and research centers in many provinces and cities nationwide and worldwide.
During the workshop, attendees shared many results of the abovementioned cooperation and proposed development orientations for the model in the coming time.
Secretary of the Hoa Vang District Party Committee To Van Hung expressed his pleasure when seeing many universities, centers, scientists and researchers participating in the community-based tourism models in Hoa Bac Commune.
He added the suburban district has a legal foundation for tourism development on agricultural land from the pilot resolution of the municipal People’s Council. This has facilitated Hoa Bac Commune in particular, and Hoa Vang District in general, to become a fertile land for the development of community-based tourism, ecotourism and rural tourism.
