The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre held a ceremony at Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre on August 24 to celebrate the 100th founding anniversary of Khai Dinh Museum, now Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities (1923-2023).

Khai Dinh Museum, one of the first museums in Vietnam, was established on August 24, 1923. It houses ancient Hue antiquities including porcelain and enamelware objects, royal costumes and seals, musical instruments and paintings.
The museum also has a collection of unique and diverse Champa sculptures.
Long An Palace, the main display place of the museum, is one of the most beautiful royal architectural works in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong hailed, that over the past years, Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities has promoted its research and made a remarkable effort to enrich its collection, while accelerating the application of modern technology in its operation, thus meeting the increasing demand of visitors.
Now, the Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities is preserving more than 9,000 artefacts classified into nearly 20 collections. Of these, many artefacts have been recognised as national treasures of Vietnam.
An exhibition displaying treasures of Emperor Khai Dinh (1885 –1925), the founder of the museum, was held on the occasion.
