Phu Quoc Island to build coastal road

Kien Giang Province has greenlit an investment policy for a four-kilometer coastal road from the Duong Dong River to Cua Can Commune on Phu Quoc Island, which is estimated to cost VND3,200 billion.

The coastal road with have six traffic lanes will start at a point adjacent to the Duong Dong River and end at road DT975B. The project will include the construction of essential infrastructure components, including rainwater and wastewater drainage systems, a lighting system, pavements, trees, intersections, embankments, and a traffic safety system.

This project is part of the province’s broader program to revamp the urban landscape, enhance connectivity between the southern and northern areas of the Duong Dong River, and foster the development of residential areas, service facilities, and trading centers on the island.

Known for breathtaking white-sand beaches, Phu Quoc still requires substantial improvements in infrastructure to cater to the needs of tourists, particularly in terms of coastal roads and public beaches near Duong Dong Town.

Phu Quoc is situated 120 kilometers east of mainland Rach Gia City and 45 kilometers west of mainland Ha Tien City. In January-November this year, Kien Giang Province has attracted 5.4 million visitors, including 512,000 from abroad, a 14% increase compared to the previous year.
