Vietnam plans various activities in response to Earth Hour 2024
According to the document, the Ministry has called for organisations, agencies, establishments, people, and businesses to turn off unnecessary electrical equipment during the event for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 23.
The event aims to create awareness of people taking responsibility for a sustainable future by turning the lights off.
This year will see the 2024 Earth Hour Campaign convey a message that urges the community not only to save electricity, save energy, and protect the environment for just one hour, but also that everyone, every community, and each business must regularly practice throughout the year should make saving electricity and energy a habit.
Vietnam first joined the Earth Hour campaign in 2009. In 2023, the country saved more than VND555 million.
The event was started back in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney to raise awareness of climate change, the Earth Hour is now one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment. Held every year on the last Saturday of March, the Earth Hour engages supporters in more than 190 countries and territories, all taking action to ensure a brighter future for people and the planet.
