Vietnam, China localities join hands to clean up border river

During three days from May 9, the authorities of Hoanh Mo commune of Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province coordinated with their Chinese counterparts from Fangchenggang city’s Dong Zhong town to clean up the environment along the shared border river.

The cleanup at the Hoanh Mo border gate was part of the twinning activities between the two localities.

Local people and border soldiers altogether collected rubbish and removed bushes along the stream from the border marker No. 1316 to No. 1317. Around tens of tonnes of waste were collected for treatment.

Besides, cultural and sport exchange activities were also held on the occasion.

Local people and boreder soldiers from Vietnam and China altogether cleaned up the environment.

The program aims to raise the awareness of officers, soldiers, union members, youth, and people on both sides of the border about the protection of the green, clean, and beautiful border river and stream environment.

In addition, the program also contributes to continuing to strengthen the relationship and mutual understanding between commune - town authorities and people of villages and hamlets, border protection forces of the two countries, building a border of peace and friendship.

Binh Lieu district shares a border line of more than 43 kilometres line with China. Thanks to its sound people-to-people diplomacy, the district has been able to ensure stable security and order in border area, helping promote local socio-economic development.
