(TITC) - In evening of 18 May 2024, Son La Provincial People's Committee solemnly held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizing Moc Chau National Tourist Area.
At the ceremony, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh announced Decision No. 1077/QD-BVHTTDL dated 22 April 2024 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizing Moc Chau National Tourist Area. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong handed over the Decision to leaders of Moc Chau and Van Ho districts.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Mrs. Trang Thi Xuan said that Moc Chau National Tourist Area has a prime location, "Near enough for visitors to come, far enough for visitors to stay". This is the gateway connecting the Northwest region with Ha Noi, the Red River Delta, and also the Northern provinces of Laos. This place is known for its beautiful and majestic natural landscape, fresh and cool climate, rich culture and national identity, and friendly and hospitable people. Those values have become great potential and advantages for tourism development.
Moc Chau tourist area stretches across the two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho. Over the past years, the area has been developing with green - sustainable direction. The infrastructure system and technical facilities are invested, upgraded. Tourism environment is gradually improved, the quality of tourism services is enhanced, creating many jobs, increasing income for people and businesses.
In 2023, Moc Chau National Tourist Area welcomed 2.5 million visitor arrivals, an average tourist growth rate of 16%/year. Tourism receipt reached more than 3,000 billion VND, the growth rate of 27.8%/year, creating jobs for 5,100 direct workers and many indirect workers.
In particular, for two consecutive years (2022-2023), Moc Chau National Tourist Area was honored by World Travel Awards as "World's Leading Regional Natural Destination".
Within the framework of the announcement ceremony, a special welcome art program took place with the theme "Moc Chau, Van Ho - the beautiful highlands". In the grand scene "Unity Dance", delegates, audiences, and tourists immerse themselves in the extremely unique folk dances of the ethnic groups of Moc Chau and Van Ho.
