(TITC) - On 9th June, Hue City Culture, Information and Sports Center (Thua Thien Hue Province) organised the Opening Ceremony and Hue - Cergy Cultural and Artistic Exchange Day activities "From tradition to modernity". This is a series of activities within the framework of Hue International Arts Festival 2024.

Hue City (Vietnam) and Cergy (France) officially signed a cooperative relationship in April 2019. Since then, many officials, artisans, and artists of the two cities have implemented sightseeing, learning programmes, shared experiences, and organised cultural and artistic exchange events… The most recent was the visit at the end of February 2024 by Hue City's leadership delegation attending the Vietnamese Tet festival event - Passport to Asia issued by Cergy City, Vietnamese and Asian associations living in Cergy and artists from Hue jointly organised the event.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Vo Le Nhat, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee stressed, the leaders of the two cities agreed to promote cooperation in the coming time, in which focusing on harnessing the similarities and strengths of each side and the Hue - Cergy cultural and artistic exchange activity with the theme "From tradition to modernity" is considered the beginning of a new period of cooperation between the two sides, aiming to help people of Hue in particular and Vietnam in general better understanding Cergy, a beautiful and dynamic city, with lots of development potential, located in the central region of France.
Through Cergy and possibly the urban community of Cergy Pontoise in coming time, Hue will strengthen the promotion of similar cultural and tourism activities to help tourists from the Paris capital area and surrounding areas have a more complete understanding of an ideal cultural and heritage destination for sightseeing and tourism activities in Vietnam, through cultural and artistic activities bearing the mark of the ancient citadel.
According to Mr. Moussa Diarra, Deputy Mayor responsible for international cooperation of Cergy City, for the effective cooperative relationship between the two cities, it must include active participation from people, associations and support from the two cities, from sponsoring agencies such as the French Embassy to international organisations. If Cergy is a young city, Hue is a city hundreds of years old in formation and development, so the cooperation between the two cities is considered an effective complement to each other. This cooperation aims to honour the core values of cooperative relationships around the world based on the basic foundation of equality, humane, and peace. There is a necessary complementarity between the two cities as Cergy learns many things in Hue and vice versa, Cergy also has things to share with Hue in the fields of culture and art…
Within the framework of Hue International Arts Festival 2024, residents and tourists have the opportunity to enjoy hip-hop dance performances from Cergy's dance artists attending the Hue Festival and the hip-hop dance clubs of Hue City. In addition, the exhibition spaces will display Hue - Cergy artwork "From tradition to modernity"; display and experience Sinh village folk paintings; displaying kites and Hue lanterns…
Also, Hue City and Cergy City organised an exchange with ceramic restorers with the theme "Preserving and restoring heritage" by the President of the Vaureal Crafts and Ceramics Association of Cergy City - Ms. Saenko Manon. This is considered an opportunity for artisans, craftsmen in general and ceramic artists in Thua Thien Hue province in particular to exchange and learn experience in making ceramic products.
