(TITC) - On 23rd July 2024, in Ha Noi, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) had a meeting with Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, the Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance on his official visit to Vietnam.

Reviewing the situation of culture, sports and tourism cooperation between the two countries in recent times, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed, along with the strong, comprehensive, and substantive development in all fields of Vietnam and Japan friendship relations, the culture, sports and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two countries are increasingly vibrant and have achieved many practical results, especially the successful organisation of Vietnam Festivals in Japan. The festivals help the people of the two countries increase mutual understanding, connecting Vietnamese expatriates far away from their hometown. In early August 2024, the MOCST will coordinate with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to organise a delegation to participate in the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido. MOCST’s Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong believes that with the coordination and support of Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and the Festival Organising Board, the two parties will successfully organise the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido 2024.
Mr. Takebe Tsutomu thanked the MOCST for its active support in recent years for cultural exchange and tourism promotion programs between the two countries, such as Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido, Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long, Vietnam-Japan Festival in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Takebe affirmed that foreign cultural activities actively organised by the MOCST in recent times have contributed to strengthening understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries, create motivation to promote cooperation in many fields such as human resource training, economic and industrial development, attracting commercial investment, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Mr. Takebe Tsutomu was pleased to inform that the 8th Vietnam - Japan Festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023 was successfully organised and achieved impressive results, attracting 485,000 goers. Through the Festivals, many localities in Vietnam and Japan have built and implemented specific and practical cooperation projects such as Hokkaido Prefecture sending experts to support, transferring clean water supply technology to Quang Ninh Province, Japan built a seafood processing factory in Ha Long,... Following the success of previous editions, the Organising Board of the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido will coordinate closely with the MOCST to effectively organise the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido 2024.
Discussing directions for culture and tourism cooperation in the future, Mr. Takebe proposed that the MOCST research and promote school tourism for students and leisure tourism for the elderly. Mr. Takebe shared that TOA Research Institute (an organisation of Japan public interest Research) wishes to support Vietnam in training human resources for the tourism industry, thereby promoting tourism development in the two countries.
MOCST’s Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong also welcomed the proposals of Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and suggested that the Japanese side cooperate with 8 Tourism Colleges under the MOCST in supporting training and developing human resources in the tourism industry. In 2025, the MOCST will open the Vietnam Exhibition Hall at the World Exhibition EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan from 13th April to 13th October 2025. MOCST’s Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong suggested that Mr. Takebe and Hokkaido Prefecture coordinated and supported Vietnam to organise cultural introduction and tourism promotion activities of Vietnam at the Vietnam Exhibition Hall at EXPO 2025 and in Hokkaido Prefecture.
In the spirit of sincerity, trust and effectiveness, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen and promote cooperation between the two countries in general, in the fields of culture, sports and tourism in particular, contributing to strengthening and deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
