(TITC) - On 14 August 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province organized a workshop on linking tourism development in Hoi An - Dien Ban - Duy Xuyen districts with the theme "Green tourism destination - countryside, craft villages".
It aimed to implement the policy of developing green tourism of Quang Nam province. At the same time, it introduces and promotes the potentials and tourist attractions in Hoi An - Dien Ban - Duy Xuyen, consults to build a program of agreement, companionship, and cooperation to develop tourism in a green and sustainable direction.
The workshop attracted more than 100 delegates from state management agencies, businesses and community tourism organizations, and domestic and international sustainable tourism experts.
Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong informed in recent times, Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) supported Quang Nam province to effective implement Green Tourism Criteria. The business community, people, and tourists enthusiastically responded and contributed to spreading the brand of the province as a green tourism destination.
In the coming time, Quang Nam will focus on building mechanism to direct support for the business community and people to create a pilot green tourism model in rural and mountainous areas to expand tourism space in the West and South of the province.

Sharing at the workshop, Ms. Sibylle Bachmann, Head of Cooperation - Embassy of Switzerland to Vietnam said: “Through SECO, the Swiss Government is supporting Hoi An city to become a sustainable tourism destination recognized worldwide. We will continue to support Quang Nam province in updating its green tourism criteria and helping tourism businesses access international sustainable tourism certification. At the same time, we encourage public-private dialogue to promote the development and implementation of local policies to promote sustainable tourism development.”
On the same day, delegates, tourism businesses, travel agencies, tourism experts experienced the tour “One journey - many green experiences”, exploring the green tourism model at Dong Khuong craft village (Dien Ban town), Tra Nhieu community tourism village (Duy Xuyen district), and Kim Bong carpentry village (Hoi An city).
The delegation visited many destinations in 3 localities such as fine art carpentry village; Terra Cotta Studio of artisan Le Duc Ha, Triem Tay community tourism village of Dien Ban town.

Coming to Tra Nhieu community tourism village, Duy Xuyen district to experience a basket boat ride in the water coconut forest, listen to stories about the countryside, rivers, historical stories, hiding revolutionary soldiers...
Visiting tourist attractions in Kim Bong carpentry village, Hoi An city, listen to the introduction of the history and culture of the craft village, visit the shipbuilding facility, mat weaving, basket weaving, bottle weaving.

The workshop and green tourism tour were held with the sponsorship of SECO. Since 2018, Switzerland has supported Quang Nam province in promoting sustainable tourism development by consulting and implementing set of green tourism criteria as well as developing green tourism models and products in the province.
