(TITC) - On 10th December, on the occasion of the First Conference on Tourism for Rural Development in Quang Nam, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long had a meeting with Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Executive Director, UN Tourism.
Attending the Meeting were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh, leaders of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s departments; UN Tourism officials.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long appreciated UN Tourism’s support in organising the First Conference on Tourism for Rural Development in Quang Nam and showed his gratitude for the great progress in Vietnam and UN Tourism’s relationship.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long stressed, Vietnamese Government highly values tourism development and deeply appreciates the valuable support from international organisations, including UN Tourism, for Vietnam's development and its tourism sector particularly. Vietnam reaffirms its commitment to actively contributing to the growth and development of UN Tourism; at the same time, hopes that UN Tourism will continue to support Vietnam's tourism development, select Vietnam as a host destination for international events and conferences; support Vietnam in raising tourism workforce quality; share valuable expertise and assist the development of Vietnam's rural tourism.
Addressing at the Meeting, Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Executive Director, UN Tourism appreciated Vietnam’s warm hospitality for UN Tourism delegation. Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic said, Vietnam is steadily recovering its tourism industry after the COVID-19 pandemic, driven in part by significant visa facilitation policies which have contributed to a surge in tourist arrivals.

Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Executive Director, UN Tourism, reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to supporting Vietnam's tourism sector growth, sharring best practices in developing green tourism, circular economy and low-carbon emissions initiatives, promoting online trade of agricultural products, fostering a sustainable and prosperous future for the industry.
From 9th to 11th December 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) in collaboration with UN Tourism organised the First Conference on Tourism for Rural Development and the Second Annual Meeting of the Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism Network at Vinpearl Resort & Golf Nam Hoi An, Hoi An, Quang Nam Province.
The conference is the first global event on rural tourism by UN Tourism, drawing more than 300 delegates from 50 countries in the world to attend. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its pioneering role in promoting rural tourism, increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of Vietnam tourism in the region.
