Hon Ong Island, belonging to Van Phong Bay, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province, is 80 kilometers apart from Nha Trang City.
It takes tourists two hours to go from Nha Trang to dam Mon Port by car and then 20 minutes to travel to Hon Ong by boat or 5 minutes by canoe.
Ong Island is surrounded by a buoy fence on the sea. The buoy fence is like a border between the resort with the outside. Inside the fence, sea creatures are prevented from being caught, which keeps the nature and wildness for the sea by the island.
The sea here is very beautiful with blue water and white sand. Especially, it has no waves. Green coconut trees create shadows for the swimmers. The sea water is so clear that may camera can record colorful fish swimming in it. When sea bathing, you will be extremely exciting with schools of fish swimming around you. It’s really a peaceful place to relax. There also are wooden bungalows with a sea view for tourists to stay over.
Tourists can explore the nature of the island by following a track to the primeval forest to watch the flora and fauna of the tropical country. In the forest, tourists can find rare and precious kinds of birds such as the white bellied fishing eagle, the plover, the Indian lapwing, eudynamys, charadrius dubius, the pink necked parrot, and the big, ancient trees hundreds of years in age.
Hon Ong Island also has sporting activities for tourists such as boating, wind surfing, catamarans and diving. This area is recognized as one of the most diving place in Vietnam.
The island is a paradise for those who want to avoid noise of the daily life and enjoy the quiet nature.
